University Museum of Contemporary Art

Reference of national and international visual culture.

The MUAC, on November 26, 2018, celebrated 10 years of being a benchmark of national and international visual culture. Its renewed and dynamic image crystallizes its vitality in accordance with the current and avant-garde spirit of university space. Since its opening, it has received more than 5 million visitors.

Its rooms have housed around 150 exhibitions with artists such as Cildo Meireles, Cai Guo-Qiang, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Vicente Rojo, Yves Klein, Anish Kapoor, and Carlos Amorales, in close collaboration with Tate Modern, London, the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston [MFAH], which places MUAC within the circuit of the best institutions and museums globally.

Its public and reasoned collection, unique in the panorama of Mexican public museums, is part of the University Heritage, it is a pioneer in the preservation of memory by revitalizing collecting in Mexico. It currently has 1800 works by more than 300 artists and 40 documentary collections.
