Diego Rivera Mural Museum
The museum was built in 1986, with the aim of housing the mural Dream of a Sunday afternoon in the Alameda Central because it was located in the Hotel del Prado that suffered serious damage in the 1985 earthquakes that affected Mexico City. 3 To transport the work from the hotel, the wall that supported the mural was cut, later a metal structure was used to support the 15 tons of weight, which has been preserved until now.1 The museum building and its facilities were built around the mural, already placed in its current site.
The museum was inaugurated on February 19, 1988. The museum's objective is to preserve and disseminate Rivera's work.1 It also holds temporary exhibitions of other artists, series of talks, concerts, and various activities
