Yamil Lu’um Archaeological Zone

Mayan ruins just steps away.

Yamil Lu´um is small, but it has a great symbolic value, and in addition, all who visit it will be able to enjoy a panoramic view without equal.
 
Unlike the immense Mayan cities of the rest of Quintana Roo that are hidden in the middle of the tropical jungle, this one is located in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. That's right, it emerges among luxury hotels, pools, and seaside bars.
 
  • In addition to being in front of the sea, it has another peculiarity: it is located on a rock that is considered the highest point on the entire coast of the city.
  • There is double access to these ruins, one of them is through the beach; and, the other, through a hotel.
  • It has two temples; the main monument is called the Temple of Alarcán. It bears this name since a structure of an arachnid was found on one of its walls.
  • This construction was built approximately in the Late Postclassic Period (1200-1550).
 
One recommendation: go to the place during sunrise or sunset, as these are the best times to take pictures that will look like postcards.
