Description

Explore the most biodiverse Biosphere Reserve in Mexico, Montes Azules, by kayaking along the Lacantún River. Discover the impressive archaeological sites of Yaxchilán, Bonampak, and Palenque, as well as the Lagunas de Montebello National Park and the incredible El Chiflón waterfall ('Bride's Veil'). Day one We will depart early from San Cristóbal de Las Casas to visit the majestic El Chiflón waterfall and enjoy its fall of more than 70 meters. Afterwards we will visit the Montebello Lakes and later we will move to the Río Ixcan Camp where we will sleep next to the Lacantún River (Lunch, food) Day two We will move to the place where we will begin the tour in kayaks and paddle for four hours. At one point along the way we will enter the jungle to have lunch among the lush vegetation. We finish the kayak tour in the Chajul / Loma Bonita ejido where we will meet the truck again. Later we will drive for approximately 3:30 hours until we reach the Lacandon community of Lacanjá Chansayab to sleep at the Río Lacanjá Camp (Breakfast, lunch, dinner). We traveled on the Lacantún River in double kayaks and rowed an approximate distance of 20 km. Day Three Early in the morning we leave for the community of Frontera Corozal where we will take a motor boat to navigate the largest river in Mexico: the Usumacinta River, until we reach the lost city of Yaxchilán, one of the most amazing archaeological zones in Chiapas whose temples are They rise in the middle of the jungle. We return to the Río Lacanjá Camp and will walk an interpretive trail where we will better understand the importance of the high evergreen forest. We will sleep at the Río Lacanjá Camp (Breakfast, lunch, dinner). Day four In the morning we will visit the archaeological site of Bonampak which means “Painted Walls”, famous for its mural paintings which are the most preserved and important of the classic Mayan. Later we will move to the archaeological site of Palenque to visit one of the most important Mayan cities. End of service (breakfast). If you wish, we can return you to the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas.
