Rio Lagartos is a fishing village of approximately 4500 inhabitants and is part of the Ria Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. The Natural Reserve is located in the East Yucatan with an area of 60,347.82 hectares and presents a great diversity of natural environments and scenarios such as wetlands, mangroves and coastal dune that houses a rich diversity of wildlife.
