Description

Embark on a 3-day rafting tour in the Lacandon Rainforest. Visit the most biodiverse Biosphere Reserve in Mexico: Montes Azules. Explore it by inflatable raft on the Lacanjá River and discover the impressive archaeological sites of Yaxchilán, Bonampak, and Palenque, as well as the Agua Azul and Misol-Ha waterfalls. Day 1 We leave at 8:00 a.m. for the archaeological site of Palenque, where we will explore one of the most important cities in the Mayan world. Then, we will move to the Agua Azul Waterfalls to admire the vibrant turquoise color of its waters (which can turn brown during the rainy season). In the afternoon, we will travel to the Lacandon community of Lacanjá Chansayab, where we will spend the night at the Río Lacanjá Camp (lunch and dinner). Day 2 In the morning, we will depart for the Chol community of Frontera Corozal, where we will board a motorboat to navigate the Usumacinta River, the largest river in Mexico. Our destination will be the enigmatic lost city of Yaxchilán, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Chiapas, with temples that emerge in the middle of the jungle. Then, we will return to camp to begin an exciting rafting trip along the Lacanjá River. The first part of the rafting includes a series of waterfalls, from small to large class III (up to 2.50 meters high), lasting approximately two hours. Afterwards, we will hike to the archaeological site of Lacanjá and visit the Moctuniha waterfall, where we can swim and enjoy lunch. We will return to camp walking through the tall evergreen forest, where we will spend the night. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner) Day 3 We will visit the Bonampak archaeological site, known as “Painted Walls” for its exceptional and best preserved mural paintings from the Mayan classical period. Then, we will go to the Misol-ha waterfall, where we will admire its impressive waterfall of more than 35 meters high. Afterwards, we will return to the city of Palenque. End of service. (Breakfast included) If you prefer, we can offer you a transfer to the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas.
