Description

Level Difficulty: Intermediate - Advance. Day 1: 51 Km. // 88km optional. We will start our 4-day adventure 25 km away from the city* in Zimatlán de Álvarez. The first part of the ride is on flat country roads that connect the villages of this region. We will ride through farm fields and roads where it is common to cross paths with locals who lead their cattle to the feeding grounds. The second part of the day starts in San Martin Lachilá, from here the terrain varies from flat grounds to some challenging climbs and fun descents. We will ride in a semi-desertic area where we will take some time to enjoy the view of the hills and surroundings. We finish our bike ride in Ejutla where will eat at a local restaurant. After eating, we will drive about an hour to Miahuatlán City. We’ll have dinner in a local diner. Day 2: 50 Kilometers. We’ll have breakfast and then go back to the hotel to get ready for the day. We will start our ride from the hotel in Miauatlan, since we will start crossing the Southern Mountain range of Oaxaca expect long climbs and some descents. We will be riding on asphalt roads that wind through majestic mountains and take us through some little villages where you can have a glimpse of the rural life of the region. We will have lunch in San Pablo Coatlan where those who feel tired can ride in the van for the rest of the day. For those that want to keep ridding there will be 15 extra kilometers up-hill to San Sebastán Coatlán where we will spend the night at 1900 meters above sea level at Waldemar's cabain. Day 3: 66 Kilometers. We will have breakfast with at the cabin and will start riding from their place. This day we will continue crossing the Southern Mountain range of Oaxaca on dirt routes. One of the stops we do during the route will be in “Llano de León”, a little village where we’ll get some refreshments at one of the village’s stores. Once we’ve rested for some time we will continue ridding to “La Reforma” the place where we eat and sleep. After lunch we will visit a beautiful waterfall which is one of the highlight of the day and where it is possible to swim except during the peak of the rainy season (Jul- Sep). We’ll spend the night either on cabins or tents, depending on the availability. Day 4: 35-46 kilometers. Due to the hot weather it is necessary to start riding as early as possible. We will ride from La Reforma to Puerto Escondido there are some long climbs and some fun descents that will be the challenge of the day. First, we will ride to San Pedro Mixtepec which is the main village of this area. For those who feel tired, this will be the end of the ride and will go in the van to Zicatela, Puerto escondido were the tour ends.
