Description

Explore authentic Mexican markets and try traditional Mexican dishes on this guided tour. Visit two traditional markets, learn about the early years of Tenochtitlan, and choose between a salsa-making lesson or learning how to make a huarache. Start your tour with a walking tour of Centro Historico, where you will learn about the early years of Tenochtitlan (the old name for Mexico City) and some quirky facts about what we call CDMX today. The first market you’ll visit is a local market that could very well be confused with a museum. Appreciate murals from the 30s and 40s as well as sculptures from the same time. If that is not enough, you'll try delicious fruit cocktails and tamales (vegetarian only) and cafe de olla. Learn how to ride the subway and head to the beautiful and boisterous Jamaica market where you will marvel at the incredible diversity of flowers that can be found at this legendary tianguis. You´ll try Mexican 'garnachas' like quesadillas and gorditas. To add to the fun, choose between a salsa-making lesson or learning how to make a huarache. Your lesson will take place in a family-owned eatery that has been there for generations and your teacher will be one of those family members. In the end, eat your creation in their establishment and rest before heading back to your hotel.
