Description
Since 2017, the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program has been welcoming visitors and volunteers to come learn about the coral reef, why they are critical and have a first-hand encounter in helping to restore the reefs decimated by the construction of the cruise ship terminal. This course offers knowledge of the corals that form the Mesoamerican Reef ecosystem. You will learn about the different types of corals, threats they are facing and how we go about protecting and restoring the reefs. Finally, you will get a hand at planting your own fragment of coral for future generations. Upon completion, you will not only gain the skills needed to volunteer in our project, but you will also gain a diploma for the certified PADI Coral Reef Conservation specialty. This course is necessary for anyone who wishes to volunteer with coral restoration efforts in Cozumel and worldwide! We run this 2 day course weekly, 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Friday. If you can't find a course in our schedule that matches your availability, please contact us directly to see if we can accommodate you. *IMPORTANT* You need to have prior scuba experience in the form of the PADI Open Water certificate before booking this course. If you do not have it, please contact us and we can arrange to get your certified before your course starts.Includes
