We will meet at the main entrance of the Museum of Anthropology to begin a journey through the origins of Mesoamerican cultures. The National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City is the most important museum in Latin America. More than two million people visit it every year to see the largest collection of pre-Hispanic art in the world up close. For two and a half hours, we will follow in the footsteps of pre-Hispanic societies and bring you up to date with the most recent archaeological excavations and ethnographic studies. We will go back 10,000 years while admiring an impressive collection of objects from the daily life of the first inhabitants of Mexico, as well as symbolic elements of their cultural and religious ceremonies. You will be amazed by the famous Sun Stone, popularly known as the Aztec calendar, and discover the secrets it hides about the origin of the universe. In addition, we will see reconstructions of tombs and temples of the ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations and archaeological pieces of Zapotec, Toltec, Teotihuacan and Mexica. After a two and a half hour guided tour, you will have free time to explore the National Museum of Anthropology on your own.
