The Mayan chronology covers a period of three thousand years, that is to say, the ancient Mayans studied for a long period the relationship between the stars and the different temporalities, this permeated and influenced their architecture. This is why every year, on March 21st and September 21st, thousands of people from all over the world travel to the ancient city of Chichen Itza in Yucatan to see the 'descent of the serpent'; since during the spring equinox the shadow of a serpent, created by the position of the sun on this special date, appears on the staircase of the pyramid 'the castle'.
Come this spring to Chichen Itza, and witness this incredible precision of Mayan astronomy integrated into their architecture, learn the history of how they built these complex structures using very advanced geometry as well as astronomy. On the other hand, this phenomenon exposes very well the cultural advancement of the Mayan people, as its realisation is a solid base in the study of astronomy, mathematics, chronology, geometry and religion.
Where? Chichen Itza, Yucatan.
When? 21 March and 21 September (the days may vary depending on the year, normally it is the 21st, although it may be a day before or a day after).
